Awarded 94 points by Jim Murray (author of the Whisky Bible) Like all Amrut expressions, this Peated Single Malt Whisky is made with Indian barley grown in the Himalayan region and later distilled in Bangalore using a rigorous distillation technique. However, where their other releases are made in American oak barrels, this edition is matured in Sherry Casks for that extra peated finish. Smoky and warm, this whisky automatically kicks off with the intense taste of caramelised molassed sugar. An infusion of spices turns up the heat on the palate and results in a deep, oaky taste. A soft influx of herbal and earthy nuances merge with fruity flavours, climaxing to a delectable whisky. Clean and medium bodied, this truly is a hot pick! Perfect Serve: Shake up a smoky cocktail such as a Pineapple Peat. Mix 75ml of pineapple juice, 35ml Amrut Peated Whisky and 2 tablespoons of lime juice into a cocktail shaker and shake generously. Fill a highball glass with crushed ice and pour in your cocktail. Garnish with a dry pineapple slice, for an extra spicy kick add a few drops of gingerbread bitters.
