Osmanthus “Burkwoodii” is an evergreen shrub with dark green foliage of 2.5 to 5 cm in length. One of the standout qualities of this plant are the fragrant flowers which blossom in the springtime. These tubular white flowers form in clusters and have a jasmine-like scent which will permeate the air during blooming. And then in autumn, the plant produces small oval berries that are dark blue to black in colour. Full sun to partial shade are the best areas to put this plant. It is relatively tolerant of most colder temperatures in the UK, down to -15 C. Due to their inclination to be frost and wind tender, it is recommended that the plant be protected from stronger and harsher winter winds. However, they are also tolerant of drier conditions. Hedge use for this plant requires anywhere from 3 to 4 plants per metre. Suggested uses as a hedge include privacy screens and around patio areas. As well, due to its wonderful aroma during flowering, this plant makes an excellent backdrop when combined other visually and sensory-engaging plants. Pot Size: 9cm Plant Height (Inc.
